That Menopause Girl

In 2020, Gemma’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with hormone-positive breast cancer. Following her treatment, she was put into early menopause, a life-altering experience that took a massive toll on her physically and emotionally. Determined to turn her own struggles into something positive, Gemma became a passionate advocate for women going through early menopause—whether due to cancer or other medical treatments.

Connection and Support

In May 2022, Gemma started her Instagram page, That Menopause Girl, to connect with women going through similar challenges. What began as a way to share her own journey soon grew into a warm, supportive community where women could come together, swap stories, and feel reassured that they weren’t alone. Whether online or in person, Gemma has been lucky enough to meet so many amazing women, each with their own unique experience.

A Project Close to the Heart

Alongside her friend Alex, this project has become their “baby”—designed to create a single, reliable source for those going through breast cancer and medical menopause. Gemma’s vision is to provide accessible information, guidance, and a sense of community to women who may feel isolated by their experiences.

A Passionate Advocate and Writer

Supporting women through their menopause journey is more than a passion for Gemma—it’s a mission. She is currently writing a book on surviving medical menopause, aiming to provide a resource filled with practical advice, personal insights, and support for those navigating the complex physical and emotional changes brought on by menopause due to medical treatments.
